QUEZON City, Jan. 27, 2012—The Diocese of Cubao’s Ministry for Youth Affairs (MYA-Cubao) is set to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Jesus and Me (JAM) youth formation program on January 28.

Organizers have chosen the theme “I in you, you in me” (John 14:20) which captures the very identity of every JAMMER (young people who had already attended the JAM Formation Program).
Activities during the whole day celebration include group dynamics, Holy Eucharist to be presided by the Diocesan Youth Director, Fr. Jojo Monis, competitions such as Cheering, Commercial Spoof, Skit presentation and Parlor Games; and awarding of winners and Certificates to Parishes and Top 10 Jammers.
A brainchild of seminarians from San Jose Seminary, the JAM formation program for the youth was spawned by EDSA “Dos” and EDSA “Tres” events.
“In 2001, the seminarians from the Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) of Sapiang Pukpok [were] moved by the events of EDSA Dos and ‘EDSA Tres’ initiated a formation program for the youth,” organizers said.
“ JAM was born [because of it], recognizing that the prime movers of both uprisings were the youth in San Roque Community, an urban poor area in Quezon City,” they added.
The group also mentioned that the first batch of JAMMERs had their weekend camp on January 25-27, 2002 at San Jose Seminary in the Ateneo de Manila University campus in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.
“Thirteen youth from San Roque Community of Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish were the first beneficiaries of JAM and the program was officially adopted by the Diocese of Cubao in 2006 with the youth from the Immaculate Conception Cathedral as its first beneficiaries,” added the organizers.
From then on, other parishes followed suit and to date, 18 parishes have already adopted the program.
The anniversary celebration will gather all the graduates of JAM Formation Program.
Registration starts at 7 a.m. Organizers advise participants to wear their JAM t-shirts. (Jandel Posion)
